• Key Dates: Contains all the key dates related to the submission. It is very important to check the expiration date to confirm that this is an active announcement. This section also contains information regarding required application instructions.

• Description: Details the research scope and objectives. This is where you can see if your idea matches to the announcement.

• Award Information: Information about the funding available, budget and project period. It is important to account for the funds available and how many applications are planned for funding.

• Application and Submission Information: Covers the required components, optional components and any special instructions. This is the area to check to see if there are any specific form or attachment requirements.

• Application Review Information: Information on how reviewers will determine scientific merit.

• Award Administration Information: Information around the policies and reporting once awarded.

Notices of Special Interest, or NOSIs are announcements found NIH Guide for Grants and Contracts that describes a specific topic an Institute or Center is interested in supporting. The NOSI directs applicants to active funding opportunities (FOA) that can be used to submit. NOSIs typically do not include information regarding application deadlines, budget or award administration. Instead, NOSIs refer to the active FOAs for any requirements and instructions.
