Login.gov (eRA-Commons)

Login.gov is an online interface where grant applicants, grantees and federal staff at NIH and grantor agencies can access and share administrative information relating to research grants.

How To:

Getting a ERA commons id associated with Johns Hopkins:

You will need to email your JHED and what role you need to JHURA - jhura@jhu.edu.

  • PI: Program Director/Principal Investigator (also called PD/PI), who directs a research project or program supported by the NIH.

A commons id is required of all co-investigators and/or key personnel

To delegate the authority of your account directly to another Commons user:

  1. Navigate to the Admin module.

  2. Select the Delegations option from the Admin menu.

  3. Click the Search or Add Delegate link.

  4. Enter search criteria and click Search.

    1. You can enter an exact Commons ID. Alternatively, in the Name field, you can type a few letters of the last name and a list of matches appears, which you must select from. Always enter the last name in the Name field because matches will not appear for first names.

  5. From the three-dot ellipsis menu for the person who you are designating as your delegate, choose the Edit Delegations option.

  6. Choose the role of your delegate: https://www.era.nih.gov/erahelp/commons/Commons/roles/1_user_roles.htm

    1. Multiple authorities can be selected if available.

  7. Click the Save button.
