2026 Samuel Jordan Graham Post-Doctoral Fellowship Award for Collaborative Research in Public Health and Medicine

DEADLINE EXTENDED | research@BSPH is now accepting applications for the $50,000 Samuel Jordan Graham (SJG) Award until Monday, March 23, 2026.

The SJG award supports post-doctoral fellows in research that integrates both public health and medical perspectives, providing co-mentored training experiences and supporting a career trajectory with translational impact. 

Eligibility Criteria

  1. Applicants should have a primary postdoctoral fellowship appointment in one of 10 BSPH Departments (as of September 1, 2026).

    1. ‌Individuals without a current PDF appointment at BSPH will be considered with clear delineation of the BSPH faculty mentor and planned appointment.

    2. ‌Clinical fellows should formalize their training relationship with a parallel appointment in a BSPH department (i.e., concurrently as a clinical fellow in SOM and research fellow in BSPH).

  2. Involved in foundational or translation research integrating perspectives from both medicine and public health.

  3. Mentored by at least two faculty members, one each with respective primary appointments at the School of Medicine and BSPH.

    • Mentors are not required to have previously worked with applicants; new mentor relationships are welcome.

Past recipients are not eligible for this award. 

‌Award Details

The award will provide up to $50,000 each to two fellows for use at their discretion. Funds may be used for a period up to two years. 

research@BSPH considers foundational research to be projects that are directed at understanding mechanisms and exploring etiology, employing disciplines including but not limited to the classic basic sciences as well as non-bench sciences with a foundational focus including behavioral science, biostatistics and epidemiology.

‌research@BSPH considers translational research broadly to include projects that move from the lab into the clinic (e.g., from bench to bedside) as well as research adapted to broader policy or public health impact.
