Dear Cancer Center Members,

 

The NCI has announced another round of application dates for the NCI Research Specialist (Clinician Scientist) Award (R50 Clinical Trial Not Allowed). Of the three rounds already completed, Johns Hopkins SKCCC Investigators have been awarded for two, with the third currently pending review.

 

If you are interested in being selected to apply to this limited-submission R50 mechanism, please email the following items to Caitlin Campbell (ccampb52@jhmi.edu) by Thursday, December 1, 2022.

 

  1. NIH-style biosketch in the new format (max. 5-pages)

  2. A list of current NCI-funded studies you are working with

  3. What you propose to improve access and accrual to trials – no formatting requirements

 

Materials will be reviewed by an SKCCC Committee specifically put together for this mechanism. An applicant for the February 7, 2023 submission date will be selected in early December. Additional information will be provided at the time of that selection.  

 

The National Cancer Institute has published a new R50 FOA: https://grants.nih.gov/grants/guide/pa-files/PAR-21-306.html. Jointly run by OCC and the Coordinating Center for Clinical Trials, this mechanism will provide salary for persons who are instrumental in carrying out NCI-funded clinical trials but don’t pursue independent research funding of their own.
